Our Projects.

Our diligent team is committed to our goals, tackling them step by step.

Grand

openinG + Princes Bay  E-waste Drives

Our grand opening took place on August 20, 2017. Over 25 people contributed to recycling around 600 pounds of E-Waste. A success with the community, our e-waste drive has become an annual tradition, bringing together nearly 100 hundred people to recycle almost 1,000 pounds of e-waste!

   SITHS    SUMMER CAMP

Our team worked with a group of approximately 30 students at the 2019 SITHS Summer Camp to discuss the e-waste crisis and encourage their involvement in solving it through a competition. Ultimately, more than half of the students recycled e-waste, and we rewarded the entire cohort with a munchkin party!

partnership with SIths

Our team is composed entirely of students from Staten Island Technical High School. Throughout the month of January 2020, we have successfully organized  an E-waste drive for the SITHS student body through a partnership with the New York Department of Sanitation. We were able to collect over 400 items of E-waste.

Top donor (Brianna Chan '22) recycled a 40" TV, a printer, and a slew of other E-waste!

Our initial success helped us continue hosting e-waste drives at SITHS (prior to COVID), and resuming in the spring of 2022! In fact, we were able to a launch a similar initiative in Justin's former middle school.

Expansion

Once our team has ensured the plausibility of expanding into other high schools across NYC (Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech) via conferences with Student Government officers and principals, we will arrange similar E-Waste Drives at these schools as well. Furthermore, we would like to modify the curriculum taught in Environmental Science/Health classes to promote awareness about the E-Waste. dilemma.

Through seed-funding from the Ashoka Group, General Motors, and JobsFirstNYC exceeding $3,500, we were able to launch an international outreach program with 30+ volunteers educating their community members in Vancouver, CA, and Bihar, IN.

Consulting

Although a long-term goal, our team is looking to conference with government officials to develop strategies that would minimize irresponsible E-Waste recycling (i.e. through targeted advertisements and easily accessible information on government websites). As of August 2020, a partnership with Councilman Matteo of Staten Island has been underway to revive the NYC E-waste Curbside Pickup Program, as well as provide public E-waste drives to NYC residents.
